College’s Next President
I am pleased to inform you that the Board of Trustees
has named Dr. Maria Minerva Ramirez as the sole finalist for the position of
President of Laredo College pending final negotiations. The board is
expected to take final action and vote on the employment of Dr. Ramirez to
serve as College President on May 19, 2022 at the regular board meeting.
Maria Minerva Ramirez, Ph.D., is Vice President for Student Success at
Texas A&M International University in Laredo, TX. She previously served as
Dean of Student Success at Texas A&M International University in Laredo,
TX. Dr. Ramirez earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration
from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN; a Master of Science in School
Administration from Texas A&M University – Kingsville in Kingsville, TX; a
Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Texas A&M International
University in Laredo, TX; and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from
Laredo College in Laredo, TX.
I would also like to extend my appreciation to the entire College community
for your participation at the recent presidential forums. All input was
reviewed and valued by the Board. I would also like to express my appreciation
to the Presidential Search Committee for their time, dedication, and thoughtful
work on behalf of Laredo College. Everyone’s collaborative and concerted work
truly enriched the search process.
