WHAT IS STUDENT LIFE AT LAREDO COLLEGE?
Student life is an integral facet of the college experience, and LC offers a variety of activities to engage the mind, body and spirit.
Student life at LC includes myriad student activities, student clubs and organizations, a popular intramural sports program, and a nationally recognized intercollegiate athletics program for men’s and women’s tennis, men’s baseball, women’s volleyball, and women’s softball. In fact, LC is home to the 5-time Division 1 Men’s Tennis National Champions.
In addition, the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center on LC’s Fort McIntosh Campus houses Laredo’s most technologically advanced performance theater, where students can take advantage of high-quality student, faculty and community performances, as well as exciting music, dance and theatrical performances from around the world every semester.
And the world-renowned Lamar Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center, also found on the college’s historic downtown campus, is a living laboratory showcasing flora and fauna native to South Texas. The center is open to students and the public, along with the popular Paso del Indio Trail, where students can explore and preserve the region’s unique river ecosystem.
Other amenities offered at the Fort McIntosh campus include a recreational facility with tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, and a swimming pool. Indoor fitness facilities are found on both campuses, while a comprehensive recreational complex is on the horizon for the South Campus. And students can find time to relax or study at the student centers on either campus, which also feature a cafeteria and bookstore.
