Laredo College (LC) Student Support Services (SSS) Program is a federally
funded TRIO program. The goal of SSS is to help facilitate the transition from
one level of higher education to the next for eligible LC students.
program provides peer tutoring, professional tutoring, and computer-assisted
tutoring. Other services available are financial aid application assistance,
college transfer assistance, study skills and financial literacy workshops, as
well as personal, career and academic counseling. SSS also provides Supplemental
Instruction (SI) and developmental labs in the areas of Mathematics, Reading,
are eligible to participate in TRIO Student Support Services if they are enrolled
or accepted for enrollment in the next academic term, and demonstrate a need
for academic support. All student participants must be low-income,
first-generation, and/or individuals with disabilities. The goals of Student
Support Services are to: (1) improve good academic standing, (2) increase the
persistence rate, (3) improve the graduate rate, and (4) increase the transfer
rate for participants going to four-year universities.
