* POLICY STATEMENT . . .

The College will employ and commission peace officers to maintain law and order.  Campus police will carry a weapon while on duty. The primary jurisdiction of peace officers so commissioned includes all counties in which property is owned,  leased,  rented, or otherwise under the control of the College.  Any person commissioned under this provision must be a certified police officer under the requirements of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. (Texas Education Code Chapter 51).

Laredo Community College shall collect information on campus crime statistics and prepare, publish and distribute, through appropriate publications or mailings, to all current students and employees, and to any applicant for enrollment or employment,  an annual security report as required by the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.  The Annual Security Report is available at www.laredo.edu., The Laredo Community College Intranet, and the Campus Safety and Security Brochure. Laredo Community College shall make available to the Department of Education the information required to be reported. The “LCC Manual of Policy” is available at www.laredo.edu.
