LEAPS POWER URO
The Title III: Learning, Excellence and Academic Preparedness in STEM (LEAPS) Program (Award #: P031C160115 funded by the U.S. Department of Education) at Laredo College is for students majoring or seeking careers in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Our priority is to promote academic success, retain students in school, and guide them as they transfer into the University or program of their choosing. Students are provided with tutoring, academic advising, and academic equipment needed to succeed.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities (URO) is a component of LEAPS. According to David Lopatto (2008) research experience may lead to growth of self-confidence in a student, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and improvement in literacy and communication skills.
Our goal is to provide LEAPS students with the opportunity to conduct undergraduate research with the guidance of a Laredo College Faculty and student mentor in their major.
