If students meet one of the following criterions, they will not be required to challenge the TSI Assessment (TSIA) and will be eligible to enroll in college level courses relevant to their program and major.

Criteria expires 24 months from date of high school graduation. Student must enroll in ENGL 1301 and/or college-level Math within the first year of enrollment. Effective fall 2021, Laredo College will honor Texas College Bridge Certificates if student meets the same TSIA or TSIA2 test scores listed here. |
Military Active Duty Exemption |
Must be veteran, active duty personnel, or student who is serving or, for at least 3 years preceding enrollment, has served as a member of a reserve component of the U.S. armed services |
The Veterans Affairs Office certifies and issues a TSI-Military Exemption Form to student, which must be submitted to the Advising Center. This gives student a “blanket” exemption (Reading, Writing and Math). |
Degree Earned Exemption |
Must have earned a two or four-year degree from accredited institution |
Student must submit an official transcript from an accredited institution that indicates a two or four-year degree was awarded to student. |
Transfer Credit Exemption |
Must have completed college-level coursework from another institution that is deemed by Laredo College to satisfy the TSI obligation |
Transfer credit is evaluated by designated school officials to determined eligibility for exemption. Full or partial exemption may be granted. Official transcript(s) must be submitted to the Office of Admissions for evaluation to occur. |
Level 1 Certificate Enrollment Waiver |
Must be enrolled in a certificate program of one year or less at Laredo College; level 1 certificates require completion of 42 or fewer credit hours or equivalent |
