On Tuesday, the Laredo College Board of Trustees and LC administrators unveiled the Palomino Pledge, a new program designed to support LC students’ educational journey. This historic announcement cements a decades-long commitment to helping people in our community through our outstanding academic and workforce programs.
The Palomino Pledge marks a historic step in Laredo College’s mission to provide high-quality, affordable education to our community. This program will cover tuition and mandatory fees not covered by financial aid for eligible new and returning LC students pursuing a degree or certificate, thereby reducing financial obstacles and fostering academic success.
Degree-seeking students who meet the eligibility criteria can take advantage of this great new program designed to alleviate financial barriers for students pursuing higher education.
Eligible students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to Laredo College
- Have a complete financial aid application (FAFSA/TASFA)
- Meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Be enrolled full-time (a minimum of 12 semester credit hours)
- Be an in-district resident
- Be a degree-seeking student
- Must attend New Student Orientation (Only required for first-time college students)
Students must meet all requirements by Aug. 15 to qualify and be considered for this program.
“The Palomino Pledge is our commitment to our community that Laredo College will do everything in its power to ensure that we remove as many financial barriers as possible to allow students interested in pursuing a degree or certification,” LC President Dr. Minita Ramírez said. “Our experience has always been that higher education leads to better, stronger communities, empowers our regional workforce and strengthens the local, regional and national economies. We know this program will change lives and open new doors for many students.”
