Laredo College is proud to announce the launch of its Level 1 Certificate in Leadership, offering students the chance to build workplace-ready leadership skills with an option to study abroad.
The one-semester hybrid program helps students develop advanced communication, ethical decision-making, group dynamics, strategic planning and career development skills. Students may choose to complete their capstone course through a 10-day Global Leadership experience in Spain during Maymester 2026, visiting Seville, Granada, Córdoba and Madrid.
A key component of the program is experiential learning through hands-on projects in Laredo College’s incubator-style collaborations with campus and community partners.
The certificate transitions seamlessly into the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership (BASORGL) Program for students who wish to continue their studies. The program builds practical workplace competencies for a diverse, technological and global society and emphasizes ethical decision-making, strong communication, team leadership and people-centered problem solving. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in business, education, nonprofit and government sectors.
Program Director Dr. Marissa Guerrero said the new addition to the curriculum benefits both students and the community.
“Employers want graduates who can lead teams, solve problems and communicate with clarity,” she said. “This certificate gives students practical tools they can use immediately–on campus, at work and in the community–while the study abroad option strengthens cultural competence and global readiness.”
Prospective students can apply now for Fall 2025 admission to the Level 1 Certificate in Leadership. Seats for the optional Maymester 2026 study abroad are limited.
