Laredo College continues its commitment to provide free art and culture to our community by bringing world-renowned artists to its stages.
Join us for a mesmerizing evening with René Izquierdo, a renowned classical guitar virtuoso and passionate educator, at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center on March 1 at 7 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.
Izquierdo, who is passionate about inspiring individuals and connecting communities, describes himself as a lifelong learner and explorer.
“René Izquierdo is a much sought-after performing artist and clinician,” LC Music Instructor Dr. Matthew Bishop said. “We are fortunate to have him here. Music has the ability to touch us deeply, foster community and witnessing a great artist in such an intimate setting is an incredible opportunity.”
His recording projects showcase his diverse interests. He aims to expand the guitar repertoire through his discography, often performing new arrangements, overlooked music of the 20th century, as well as world premieres of concertos and new compositions.
With over 70 engagements per year, whether as a solo performer, chamber musician or as a guest soloist with orchestras, he has performed to critical acclaim touring extensively throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. He is frequently invited by renowned festivals and institutions, having played at stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Manaus Opera House in Brazil and National Recital Hall in Taiwan.
