Overview

Construction management professionals oversee and manage construction projects ranging from residential, commercial and industrial buildings.  The Construction Management Technology Program at Laredo College provides instruction related to construction management/supervisory roles, building science, scheduling, budgeting, personnel management, quality assurance, and safety. The Construction Management Technology program is designed to develop qualified personnel through innovative technologies, hands on construction practices, and business management training for employment in the field of construction or to enhance the workplace skills of those already employed in the industry for career advancement. The program also offers multiple exit points and various program credentials to better prepare graduates for employment in the field of Construction Management and related fields.

Information

The Construction Management program is a one-semester certificate that prepares students for leadership roles in residential and light commercial construction. Students learn how to plan, manage, and complete construction projects safely, efficiently, and on budget through a hands-on curriculum that combines classroom instruction with practical experience. Courses include OSHA safety regulations, construction materials and methods, computer-aided drafting (CAD), Construction Management I, and construction estimating. This certificate provides the technical and management skills needed for entry-level positions such as project coordinator, estimator, or site supervisor. Students who complete the one-semester certificate have the opportunity to continue their education by pursuing the one-year Certificate II in Construction Management, which can lead to the two-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Construction Management.
