Safety & Risk Management

Our Mission

Our mission is to protect lives, property, and the environment while supporting Laredo College’s commitment to transforming students' lives through educational programs and services. We achieve this mission through the following actions:

  • Prevention: Implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents or intervene to stop them from occurring.
  • Mitigation: Reducing the likelihood and impact of emergencies by taking measures to prevent them or minimize their effects.
  • Preparedness: Enhancing readiness through mutual aid agreements, memorandums of understanding, comprehensive training for response personnel and community members, disaster exercises, and hazard awareness initiatives.
  • Response: Acting promptly before, during, and immediately after emergencies to save lives, reduce economic losses, and alleviate suffering.
  • Recovery: Restoring operations to normal or near-normal conditions as efficiently as possible.

The Safety and Risk Management Office is dedicated to promoting safety, environmental compliance, and effective risk management. We support the college community through education, hazard assessments, exposure mitigation, and responsible management of hazardous materials.

To help ensure campus safety, please report unsafe conditions by emailing safety@laredo.edu or calling (956) 721-5852.
