LC Esports teams gear up for another successful season

The Laredo College Esports teams saw some astounding success this spring semester, with some members looking back at their strong season. They also look forward to what challenges the next semester will bring and how they will tackle it alongside their team members.

With a team of talented Valorant, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players, LC is excited to compete in this thriving arena against colleges across the country. This also lends to more opportunities among our student athletes and local esports players who may have a bright future once they enroll and are a part of our Palomino family.

Julio A. Reyes III, computer networking sophomore and LC Rocket League team captain, said that the newly-formed team has continued to practice over the past months and believes that they will be a powerful force amid the competitive season.

“We are all improving quickly whilst improving our team chemistry. With more practice and individual improvement, we will definitely place high in the tournament,” he said. “I am excited to see what’s next for our team.”

Since its creation in 2022, LC Esports has been able to boast some strong results in tournaments, including being named the NJCAAE Spring Open Champion for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and placing 13h in the 2023 Valorant National Tournament this Spring. Most recently, the teams have been hard at work, practicing in their respective games to have another successful season.

Francisco Jaramillo, LC Valorant team captain and Network Administration Program student, said that as he looked back on their journey. He is proud of the growth and accomplishments of himself and his teammates. The success of the Valorant team is the result of their dedication, determination and the love of the game, Jaramillo said.
