Laredo Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers Association supports LC students through donation

The longstanding partnership between Laredo College and the Laredo Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers Association (LLUSCBA) has been strengthened with a generous donation that will directly benefit students and allow for the expansion of scholarships.

The association recently presented the college with a $10,000 check that will go toward the Laredo Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers Endowment Fund. LLUSCBA and LC have collaborated for a number of years always with the intent of helping students to be prepared to be an integral part of the trade industry. This past year has been particularly fruitful as they have worked together to redefine a curriculum that truly equips students and prepares them with the skills that employers seek in new hires.

“Laredo College is thankful for the continued support of LLUSCBA,” LC Dean of Workforce Education Heriberto Hernandez said. “Through this generous donation, the Laredo College Global Import, Export and Logistics Center will be able to expose students to real-world practical learning activities. Laredo College will continue to meet the needs of the workforce and continue in the tradition of providing opportunities for success.”

The two entities will continue their partnership through the Laredo College Global Import, Export and Logistics Center by offering industry seasoned teaching staff and by providing internship opportunities for Laredo College students with LLUSCBA members. The center supports the advancement of customs, import, export and logistics practices by educating and training students to prepare them for the workforce.

“LLUSCBA believes in an infinite mindset that works to prepare the next generation’s vision and skills to make the international trade industry stronger and more robust in a world that is constantly changing,” said LLUSCBA President Robert Morris.
