Show admission will be $10 at the door and begin at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center on Friday, Nov. 3 to Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and its final performance on Sunday at 3 p.m. The performance will be both a great trip back in time to the Saturday morning cartoons of the ‘70s and a showcase of amazing local talent.
“Schoolhouse Rock songs tend to stick with you because they were written to catchy themes and tunes that are just delightful,” LC Professor of Music and Voice Dr. Joseph Crabtree said. “My generation appreciates them because it reminds us of our youth, but we see our kids and our grandkids look at it and they say ‘Wow, that’s totally amazing’ while they listen and learn from it.”
As is the case with each of the videos, viewers can expect vibrant stagecraft and swinging music that will entice any viewer to want to sing to the classic tunes. During the show, the audience will tag along with Tom prior to his first day of teaching class as he gains inspiration from the songs that have circulated education for decades.
According to Crabtree, the performance is shaping up to be a memorable experience with some members watching Schoolhouse Rock growing up and others just learning about it. This creates delightful interactions when watching and listening to the many great songs in 2023.
The community is encouraged to drive, walk, bike, fly, boat or any other verb they’d like to attend the show. And always remember that while there are eight planets and one dwarf planet in our solar system, small and large, only ours has Schoolhouse Rock Live, so don’t miss out!
