With the ongoing excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the Laredo College eSports teams, LC celebrates the news of Valorant captain Francisco Jaramillo to the National Junior College Athletic Association as their newest intern.
Laredo College is proud of the continued success the LC eSports teams achieve across the games and platforms offered through the eSports program. These opportunities are always at the forefront when the college implements new and bold ideas for the benefit of our students.
“It was exciting when I heard the news that they wanted to bring me on board,” he said. “As a passionate eSports player and gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the opportunity to contribute to the NJCAAE’s innovative initiatives.”
As the LC Valorant team captain, Jaramillo and his team battled toward victory against colleges and universities throughout the nation. As a first-person, team-based hero shooter, Valorant success hinges on strong teamwork and quick wits as players account for numerous variables, hero choices, loadouts and strategies.
His passion for both his team and competitive gaming continues to make waves within the college, as he said earlier this year that the success of the team was the result of their dedication, determination and the love of the game.
As part of the NJCAAE team, Jaramillo will have the opportunity to assist in facilitating the same experiences he had with his team for the current and new teams cropping up throughout the nation. He called the new position a dream job that will help bring communities from over 300 colleges and universities together through the sportsmanship of eSports.
“Being an operations assistant and working with the NJCAAE has helped me better understand the league operations,” Jaramillo said. “Esports holds a significant place in my life and has resonated with me on multiple levels. It’s a passion that I’ve cultivated over the many years of playing video games that has combined with a strong sense of purpose and competition.”
