LC Fun Fest expands, moves the party to heart of campus

Nothing says family fun-filled weekend like enjoying the sights, music and delicious food found at the Laredo College Family Fun Fest & Musicale. After a yearlong wait, the community is once again invited to the beloved festival but can also expect to see it transform to accommodate all of our friends from the community.

Fun Fest and LC are excited to once again see our friends in the community visit our Ft. McIntosh Campus for an afternoon filled with amusement rides, inflatables, food vendors, musical performances and activities facilitated by our wonderful students and staff. The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24 and run from noon to 5 p.m. It is open to the public with no entrance fee.

The 2024 Fun Fest also marks the first year our friends at the American Electric Power Foundation sponsor the event. This longstanding cooperation between LC and the AEP Foundation is a powerful example of the importance of family-oriented values held by many along the border and beyond. Their contributions over the years have not only empowered the college to provide even more opportunities for all of our students but will now help make Fun Fest a bigger and better afternoon for the community.

“I believe our Fun Fest is a marquee event in our city,” LC Director of Student Life Pedro Rivera said. “We provide fun for people of all ages in a safe environment that sparks up conversations about college and higher education. We invite everyone to visit, have fun and explore this beautiful and historic campus as a good way to start thinking about joining the college.”Fun-Fest-2023-Joana-02.jpg

This year, LC is excited to invite new and returning guests to experience Fun Fest with a new, expanded layout to see more of this historic campus. With the overwhelming enjoyment experienced during December’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, Fun Fest will be held at the heart of the Ft. McIntosh Campus and be the perfect opportunity to immerse oneself in everything Laredo College.

With easier access to the fun through the numerous parking lots as a result of the new layout, experiencing everything the Fun Fest has to offer will be a breeze. By following the music, the community will see the LC campus in a whole new light.

Amid the fun, LC enrollment and financial aid offices will also be open to help visitors complete their FAFSA applications and enroll for classes, with an early voting site available for added convenience. Visitors who may feel a sense of belonging and want to take a step toward their prosperous future can do so with the LC staff ready to assist.

“Our Fun Fest has evolved into an event that provides fun for individuals of all ages,” Rivera added. “Our 2024 Laredo College Fun Fest will continue the tradition of free, family-friendly fun with the new layout helping us keep up with Laredo’s growing and thriving population.”
