LC meets high network admin demand with low-cost certificate

In our increasingly connected world, the demand for skilled network administrators continues to soar. Laredo College is responding to this need with a low-cost, comprehensive one-year certificate program in Network Administration.

As technological advancements drive global communication and business operations, the role of network administrators becomes ever more critical. Laredo College's program prepares students for high-demand, high-paying positions such as Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Systems Administrator, IT Support Specialist, and Network Security Specialist.

Over the course of one year, students will engage in a structured curriculum that covers a wide range of topics including network design, implementation, maintenance and security. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, real-world scenarios and practical experience to ensure that students are well-prepared for the demands of the industry.

Aside from being a comprehensive program that focuses on providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field, students can also benefit using what they learn in class for their daily lives.

Learning about network protocols, routing and switching, network security, wireless networking, virtualization and cloud computing helps students optimize their personal networks and ensure safe web browsing for themselves and those around them. They will learn all this through hands-on experience such as lab exercises, simulations and real-world projects, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios.

“Obtaining a certificate in Network Administration can have a profound impact on a student’s life by opening up numerous career opportunities in the rapidly growing field of information technology,” Cybersecurity Institute Coordinator Reymundo Hernandez said. “Industry-recognized certifications such as Network+ and CCNA are highly valued by employers, as they demonstrate proficiency in key networking concepts and technologies.”

Students that are part of the program will not only be able to learn from experienced certified instructors but also have the opportunity to attempt both the Network+ and CCNA exams free of cost, providing them with globally recognized certifications at no additional expense. The courses also implement zero-cost books that maintain the affordable and accessible nature of a Laredo College course.

Ultimately, graduates of the program can expect to command competitive salaries, enjoy job security and pursue long-term career growth in a dynamic and rewarding industry, Hernandez said. Coupled with a non-stop, thriving industry that is integrated into everything from education to healthcare, there will always be a demand for network administrators to ensure everything is running smoothly.
