A group of talented South Texas artists will all gather at the Laredo College Martha Fenstermaker Memorial Visual Arts Gallery on Friday, May 31 to showcase their work during the “Unusually Familiar” exhibit, curated by Daphne Art Foundation Executive Director Maritza Bautista.
“Unusually Familiar is an exhibition highlighting the artwork of eight artists from our South Texas region,” she said. “The exhibition includes photography, painting, drawing, ceramics, video and installation that reveal the essence of certain junctures between people.”

According to the Daphne Art Foundation, the exhibit and its work depict a life of hard labor, the exploration of a young person’s identity suited for society, a world someone conjures in their head, unique forms that express differences in bodies, feelings that result from confronting immoral acts, yielding to forces that make people weak or courageous and moments of joy displayed.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-5:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The exhibit will be available for viewing at the gallery until July 26.
