LC Logistics Program sees additional support from longtime community partner

On Tuesday, Uni-Trade Group President Eduardo A. Garza Robles presented Laredo College with a donation in support of the college’s Logistics and Distribution Program. His generous commitment will help improve the program’s offerings so that students can further excel in the region’s prosperous industry.

“We are eternally grateful to continue this partnership with all our friends from Uni-Trade Group. Their numerous contributions help empower our Palominos and prepare them for the wide world of logistics,” Laredo College President Dr. Minita Ramírez said. “The generosity and dedication shown today by Mr. Garza is an indicator of how our community believes in the mission of Laredo College.”

This donation comes in the wake of the creation of an endowment agreement between the college and Garza earlier this year. Laredo College is proud to once again partner with Garza and everyone at Uni-Trade Group to help shape a stronger future for the logistics and distribution field in Laredo and beyond.

Through the Eduardo Garza Logistics Endowment, the Uni-Trade/Eduardo Garza Robles and Logistics and Distribution Scholarship will be created to help students interested in the field of logistics.

“We are very happy to support by doing our part. I believe that education is the most important foundation for people to advance and improve living conditions,” Garza said. “Today, we have one of the most important ports in the U.S. and we are convinced that education makes the difference; Uni-Trade is here to support the community we love.”

LC Board of Trustees Vice President Jorge “JD” Delgado said this endowment will provide crucial financial assistance to deserving students at the college and thanked everyone at Uni-Trade Group for the strong partnership seen often throughout the years.

“This endowment underscores Mr. Garza’s unwavering commitment to advancing higher education and enhancing the lives of individuals within our community,” he said. “Given Laredo’s status as the #1 port in the nation, this support for education and training will have a meaningful impact on our nation’s economy and future economic development.”
