Laredo College kicks off Welcome Week

Laredo College was treated to the welcome sight of new and returning Palominos to both its campuses on Monday. For the first day of class, students were treated to free LC t-shirts, doughnuts and coffee while staff and faculty guided students to classes and services.

The “Mean Green Monday” event was just the first activity this week, as the students have a variety of fun events waiting for them throughout the week. The traditional Laredo College Welcome Week ensures students not only have a great time on campus but also equips them with all the knowledge necessary to have a productive semester.

“My first day of the term was perfect—much better than I expected. I arrived a little early, so I could grab a coffee and a doughnut, which was the perfect way to start both the day and the week,” Anais Sanchez Diaz, LC student and LEAD Summer Bridge Program participant, said. “It was a delicious welcome to the semester! In my government class, my professor explained what the entire course would entail—dates, assignments and more—so I already feel prepared and can’t wait for my next class.”

Days like these and those that follow are both reminders and opportunities for the LC family to empower one another and build a stronger future. Everyone is welcome to register throughout the year and join the Palomino stampede.

“The very idea of starting to study again after 15 years feels incredibly fun and exciting,” Sanchez Diaz exclaimed.
