LC reinforces commitment to help address mental health concerns

During Suicide Prevention Month, Laredo College stands together in solidarity to raise awareness, break the silence and offer hope to those who are struggling.

In an effort to provide better support and access to all of the Laredo College mental health services available, the LC Student Health Services and Wellness Department hosted a mental health resource fair at both campuses and invited students to learn more about what help is being offered year-round at the college and throughout the community.

The LC World Suicide Prevention Day Resource Fair was helmed by Department Director Graciela Lopez and her dedicated team who invited community agencies to discuss and promote the resources available to our community. This fair was a collaborative effort involving the Gateway Community Health Center, Orgullo Laredo Youth and Safe Haven, SCAN, Border Region Behavioral Health Center and the City of Laredo Health Department.

The Student Health and Wellness Center offers counseling services at the Ft. McIntosh Campus in the Kazen Student Center in room 132 and at South Campus in the College of Health Sciences Building in room B304 by appointment only.

Every effort is invaluable to the primary goal of providing a safe and supporting space for students, staff, faculty and community members that may need someone to talk to. For more information regarding support services or if you need to speak with a counselor, call (956) 721-5151. For 24/7 crisis support, call or text the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
