There is nothing like waking up in the morning and getting ready for a day of sun and fun. On March 1, Laredo College invites the community to visit the downtown Ft. McIntosh Campus for another exciting, family-friendly Fun Fest, which is free and open to the public.
According to LC Director of Student Life Pedro Rivera, the move to the center of the campus offers a genuine tour of the beautiful, historic grounds—connecting the community with the rich history of what was once a military fort. Its transformation from a fort to a college campus has paved the way for many of our current and future leaders.
At the heart of the campus, attendees will have the chance to step into the shoes of our students, walking the same paths they do between classes. This time, however, everyone will be walking to the next attraction, with the sound of music filling the air.
As in years past, families can expect grand local performances, thrilling carnival rides, inflatables and a petting zoo. Amid all the excitement, food and drink options will be available, with all proceeds benefiting LC student organizations.

Fun Fest has evolved over the years, having a more direct impact on LC students. The community’s support at the event will help strengthen student organizations, providing them with the funds needed to travel to conferences, purchase uniforms and equipment, pay for examination fees and much more. Events like these teach students quick-thinking skills while enabling them to continue achieving their goals.
As the community rallies behind our students, LC is grateful for the support provided by the AEP Foundation. Rivera noted that their partnership has been instrumental in expanding the Fun Fest and allowing the college to offer more attractions to visitors.
“It’s revitalizing to partner with an organization that believes in Laredo College’s mission of providing a quality education to our community,” he said. “Their funding enables us to bring new and engaging attractions to Fun Fest.”
