Laredo College, Our Lady of the Lake University sign landmark transfer agreement

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) and Laredo College signed a landmark transfer agreement designed to streamline the pathway for students in South Texas to earn four-year degrees. Joint official signing ceremonies, titled “Laredo to San Antonio: Bridge to Bachelor’s,” were held earlier this week at both LC and OLLU.

This new agreement establishes a comprehensive academic partnership between the two institutions, aimed at removing barriers, aligning curricula and expanding access to affordable, high-quality bachelor’s degree programs for students beginning their academic journey at Laredo College. The milestone reflects Laredo College’s ongoing commitment to increasing educational opportunities, especially for first-generation and underrepresented students.

“This agreement is more than a memorandum,” OLLU President Dr. Abel A. Chávez said. “It is a shared declaration of purpose. Together, Laredo College and OLLU are clearing pathways, removing barriers and accelerating access to four-year degrees for students who will go on to lead, serve and transform our communities of San Antonio, South Texas and beyond.”

“It is an honor to see both of our great institutions come together for the success of our students,” Laredo College President Dr. Minita Ramírez added. “This partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University will open more doors for our students that will lead them to become great leaders in our communities, throughout the South Texas region and the nation. When we empower our students and remove obstacles, we also clear them a route to graduation and their dream career.”

This new partnership represents a significant investment in the future of Texas students and reaffirms both institutions’ belief in the transformative power of education.
