Laredo College thanks community for supporting historic warehouse sale

Laredo College extends its heartfelt gratitude to the community for attending the warehouse sale held Saturday, June 21, at the historic Ft. McIntosh Campus. The event drew enthusiastic support from hundreds of Laredoans who came out to explore and purchase a wide array of furniture, home décor and antique items at highly affordable prices.

More than two years ago, the college was honored to receive a generous donation from the Fernando A. Salinas Trust: the historic home on Clark Street that once belonged to former Laredo Mayor J.C. Martin, along with all its furnishings.

This extraordinary gift included not only the home but also its contents–many of which have been preserved and thoughtfully integrated throughout the college’s buildings, including historic landmarks such as the Pvt. David B. Barkley Cantu Veterans Memorial Chapel and the Commander’s Home.

“We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us by the Fernando Salinas Trust and its trustees,” Laredo College President Dr. Minita Ramírez said. “This gift has allowed us to preserve the integrity of the estate while sharing its legacy with the broader Laredo community. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone who came out to support the warehouse sale. Their participation and generosity strengthen the future of our institution.”

All proceeds from the sale will go to support Laredo College initiatives, helping to further the institution’s mission of educational excellence, preservation of the historic campus and community engagement.
