Laredo College kicks off fall semester with Palomino pride during Welcome Week

Laredo College launched the fall semester with a vibrant and engaging Welcome Week celebration from Aug. 18 to 22, welcoming students back to both campuses with a full roster of activities. Hosted by the Office of Student Life in collaboration with multiple campus departments, the weeklong event was designed to help students connect, explore campus resources and start the semester with true Palomino pride.

LC Student Life Director Pedro Rivera said Welcome Week is a collaborative effort that brings together departments across campus not just to showcase their programs and services, but to build meaningful relationships with students and better understand their needs.

“Every year, we build on our activities and introduce new ones to help our Palominos get familiar with the campuses and embrace our culture,” he said. “Our pride shines through everything we do, and we loved seeing our students share their first-week experiences at LC on social media. The excitement on campus is at an all-time high, and we’re excited to keep bringing fun and engaging activities to all our Palominos in the near future.”

This year’s Welcome Week featured more than a dozen activities, with new additions that made the experience even more memorable. Highlights included the ever-popular lotería, live cartoonists creating student portraits, students creating their own tie-dye t-shirts and Mandala bookmarks, a Welcome Back BBQ and a magical evening under the stars with a pool party and dive-in movie screening of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch.

As the semester begins, Laredo College continues to foster a welcoming and spirited environment where students feel connected, supported and proud to be Palominos.
