Laredo College is celebrating the holiday season in a big way by hosting its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the historic Ft. McIntosh Campus on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This family-friendly event is set to bring together thousands of Laredoans for a memorable evening filled with festive activities, entertainment and seasonal cheer.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony, sponsored by the Laredo College Office of Student Life, will take place at the heart of the Ft. McIntosh Campus, where many of LC’s other community events are held. This year, LC also invites the community to tap into their abundant generosity and participate during a canned food drive amongst all the family fun.
“As we celebrate the start of this season, we also take a moment to support our students,” LC Director of Student Life Pedro Rivera said. “We invite the community to bring a shelf-stable food donation for the Palomino Pantry as every contribution directly helps our Palominos stay focused on their success at Laredo College.”
Attendees can expect a dazzling display as the Christmas tree is illuminated, accompanied by a variety of fun activities. In addition to the tree lighting, the evening will feature exciting free attractions, including an ice slide, a snowball fight and photo opportunities with Mr. Claus himself. These activities promise to provide fun for the entire family, making it an unforgettable holiday experience.
Laredo College student organizations will also be fundraising during the event, with snacks and light refreshments available for purchase. Proceeds will support student-led initiatives at the college. Additionally, live dance and music performances by talented Palominos will be featured throughout the evening, enhancing the festive ambiance and ensuring the celebration is filled with music, joy and community spirit.
