Laredo College’s Tree Lighting Ceremony kicked off another December with a golden glow that was seen and felt by thousands throughout the historic Ft. McIntosh Campus. Amid the snowball fights, ice slide and performances, the unity between friends, family and community led to the tree glowing brighter than ever before.
The holiday season is a time to share experiences with one another. During the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Laredo community helped in raising funds for student organizations that are planning great things for years to come. This builds on the ongoing generosity seen throughout the holiday season directed at the Palomino Pantry, which continues to support LC students throughout the years.
“This year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony was our biggest and brightest yet, bringing joy to campus and breaking last year’s fundraising record,” LC Student Life Director Pedro Rivera said. “All proceeds directly benefit student organizations and our students in need, and we are grateful for the canned goods donated in support of our Palomino Pantry this holiday season. It’s a reminder that everyone belongs at Laredo College, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year!”
At the same time, families gathered around the snowball arena to experience snow for possibly the first time. The sight of children building their first snowball, launching it and hitting mom, dad, brother, sister, etc. is a one-of-a-kind experience seen every year at LC.
While the community often sees temperatures above 80 throughout the year, the frosty night was a perfect opportunity to gather around family and friends for warmth. Capped off with the warm golden glow that kept any bad vibes away, at LC, everyone was shining the way they were born to be.
