Laredo College will combine cultural celebration with global learning outreach during its “New Year, New Destinations” event highlighting Lunar New Year traditions while introducing students to study abroad opportunities available through the college.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Ft. McIntosh Campus Harold R. Yeary Library in room 222. Open to the public and free of charge, “New Year, New Destinations” will feature a brief study abroad informational session, followed by interactive stations where students can learn about upcoming international programs, sign up for study abroad advising and join the GLOBE Student Organization.
The event is designed to engage those interested in joining the Laredo College Study Abroad Program and the GLOBE Student Organization. Light Chinese-inspired snacks, including noodles, will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis as part of the Lunar New Year celebration.
By blending cultural programming with intentional outreach, the college seeks to create an inclusive environment that introduces students to pathways for studying abroad and developing global perspectives. Ultimately, the event aims to increase awareness of global learning opportunities at Laredo College while fostering student leadership, cultural appreciation and early engagement in international planning and fundraising.
Students, employees, prospective students and community members interested in international education and cultural engagement are encouraged to attend.
