The Laredo College South Campus is once again revving up its engine for the LC Car Show on Saturday, April 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. LC’s Transportation Technology Department is inviting the community to visit and enjoy a day amongst local car lovers while embracing the sights and sounds of prized vehicles.
The Car Show is generously sponsored once again by Gonzalez Auto Parts. This continued partnership is another example of the community both believing in and taking part in the education of Laredo College students. According to LC Transportation Technology Chair Freddy Garcia, this partnership provides tools, equipment, scholarships and training opportunities for students. It also ensures they learn industry standards and stay aligned with current automotive technologies.
Over the years, the event has evolved into a major community gathering that unites families, car clubs, alumni and local businesses. For students, it creates hands-on learning opportunities and direct exposure to industry professionals. Garcia said that Laredo’s passion for automotive customization and craftsmanship shines through at the event as it blends classic car culture, modern performance enthusiasts and community pride.
“I’ve seen how the strong community support has helped the show grow steadily,” Garcia said. “The increasing participation, the event’s sponsor, its student involvement and multitude of award categories have made the Laredo College Car Show one of LC’s signature events at the South Campus, all while connecting attendees to our mission of education and workforce development.”
Like every effort at LC, the Car Show’s goal is for the betterment of the students and to expand opportunities for them wherever possible. The event has become an annual tradition that celebrates Laredo’s automotive culture with the goal of providing student scholarships, Garcia said.
It also gives students an opportunity to showcase their work, engage with local employers and build pride in their craft. Students over the years have secured internships or employment through connections made at this event.
