Through the combined artistry of the Laredo College Dance and Mariachi programs, the community was treated to a delightful evening performance filled with majestic choreography and invigorating music.
“I wanted to put on a show that would celebrate our community’s culture and make it truly joyful and festive,” LC Dance Professor Patricia Godines said. “Working with Luis Leal, LC’s Mariachi Program director, I wanted the dancers to experience the excitement of performing with live Mariachi, feeling that connection and that sense of celebration together on stage.”
The recital was a treat to see as each new choreography conveyed the hard work and emotion of the performers. Combine that with extravagant outfits and great smiles, it was no wonder why the audience could not keep their eyes off the stage.
“We are so deeply proud of our dance students,” Godines said. “They have spent months rehearsing, training and refining their technique, and their growth truly showed on the stage. We are equally proud of our student choreographers, who poured their creativity and passion into their work and were so excited to share it with everyone. Our graduating dancers have grown tremendously during their time with us, and while they will be greatly missed, we are thrilled for what lies ahead.”
