Laredo College campuses remain open while monitoring Rio Grande flood warning

Laredo College is closely monitoring the Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service for the Rio Grande. Current forecasts indicate the river could reach moderate flood stage this weekend, cresting near 29 feet on Sunday. At this time, both Laredo College campuses remain open and operating under normal schedules.

While no impacts to college facilities are anticipated, localized flooding could affect access to portions of the Fort McIntosh Campus. If Water Street experiences flooding, the Evans Road entrance may have limited access. Alternate campus entrances will remain available if needed.

Students, employees and visitors are encouraged to allow extra travel time when coming to campus and be prepared to use alternate campus entrances if necessary. Motorists are reminded to never drive through flooded roadways or around barricades and to follow the safety message: “Turn Around, Don't Drown.” The college community should continue to monitor Laredo College email and official college communication channels for updates.

Laredo College will continue coordinating with local emergency management officials and will provide updates if conditions affect campus access or operations.
