Welcome to Undergraduate Research Opportunities (URO) at Laredo College!

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities (URO) program, funded by the Title III L.E.A.P.S. P.O.W.E.R. Grant (Award P031C210034), provides students with the chance to enhance their academic journey through meaningful, hands-on research experiences. Participants receive comprehensive training in research fundamentals, including proposal development, methodology, literature review, ethical research practices, lab safety, project management, and effective communication and presentation skills.

Undergraduate Research Initiative Goals

Students participating in undergraduate research at Laredo College will be able to:

  • Think Critically and Creatively: Apply reflective thinking, effective reasoning, and innovative problem-solving skills to real-world questions.

  • Communicate and Collaborate Effectively: Develop strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills while working collaboratively with peers and faculty.

  • Engage in the Scientific Process: Design and carry out research using appropriate methodologies, data collection, and analysis techniques.

  • Generate and Share Knowledge: Contribute to their academic field by creating new insights and presenting findings through posters, papers, and presentations.

  • Demonstrate Research Ethics and Responsibility: Understand and apply ethical principles in all stages of the research process, including data integrity and responsible conduct.
