English as a Second Language (ESL)

Build Confidence in your English skills

Laredo College's free ESL courses help non-native speakers learn basic English to support student goals for career advancement, college, High School Equivalency (HSE), and family and community.

Students advance at their own pace through various levels of classes that teach writing, reading, listening, speaking, and pronunciation. Fun activities provide plenty of opportunities to practice what you learn.

Who can Enroll

Any student below 18 years old is not eligible to participate unless he or she has her high school equivalency certificate from their native country.

Individuals who have High School Diplomas can participate in the program, but must demonstrate the inability to read, write, or speak the English Language. Prospective students are given entrance exams (BEST PLUS 2.0 and BEST Literacy) to demonstrate their lack of proficiency in the English language.

Special Services Center

Any student attending Laredo College who has an impairment which substantially limits a major life activity is eligible to receive services. This includes students with learning disabilities, those who are physically challenged, those with mental health issues and those with other circumstances limiting major life activities.
