Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA)

In order for Laredo College to receive your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) do not forget to add the school code: 003582.

 

Apply for Financial Aid 

Gather Student and Parent(s) if dependent Information 

Dependent students are required to provide parental information on their FAFSA and independent students are not required to provide parental information. 

In order to determine dependency eligibility status, the student can complete the Dependency Status Worksheet

Below is a list of documents you will need: 

  • Your Social Security card (and your parents', if dependent)
  • Your alien registration or permanent resident card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
  • Your (and your spouse's, if married) Income Tax Return
  • Your Parents' Income Tax Return (if you are a dependent student)
  • Your W-2 forms and other records of money earned
  • Any untaxed income records including child support paid or received
  • Your email address (and your parent's, if dependent)  
  • Your FSA ID (and your parent's, if dependent)  

Create an FSA ID (fsaid.ed.gov) - make sure to write down this infomration for records 

  • Your full name (and your parent's, if dependent) as shown in the Social Security Card  
  • Your Social Security number (and your parent's, if dependent) 
  • Your date of birth (and your parent's, if dependent) 
  • Your Email address (and your parent's, if dependent) 
  • Mailing address
  • Personal Phone Number (and your parent's, if dependent)

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online http://www.studentaid.gov 

Applications for the 2023 - 2024 aid year will become available as soon as October 01, 2022. For your 2023 - 2024 FAFSA, students will need their 2021 Income Tax Return (if filed) and the parents' 2021 Income Tax Return (if dependent). Applicants should complete their FAFSA online. 

Applications for the 2022 - 2023 aid year will become available as soon as October 01, 2021. For your 2022 - 2023 FAFSA, students will need their 2020 Income Tax Return (if filed) and the parents' 2020 Income Tax Return (if dependent). Applicants should complete their FAFSA online. 

Login to PASPort to check your financial aid status 

To view what documentation you are missing perform the following steps:

  1. Login to PASPort
  2. Hover over the Students tab
  3. Select the My Finances menu option
  4. Navigate to the Financial Aid Requirements and select the 20XX-20XX aid year (currect aid year)
