Transfer Resources
Advisors are committed to helping students successfully transfer to other college or universitites. The transfer process can be intimidating and complicated at times, so we have provided a variety of resources on our website to help guide you through the transfer process and better inform you of your transfer options.
Academic Degrees and Programs for Transfer
Associate of Arts/Science Degree: A college degree designed to be applicable to a Bachelor's degree program. It is composed of 42 sch of core curriculum courses and 16 sch of field of study electives that are selected based on the student's major and transfer institution.
Core Curriculum: a 42 sch block of courses that can be transferred to any public college or university in Texas. Completing the core curriculum at Laredo College means that you will not be required to complete another institution's core curriculum. Individual core courses can be transferred and applied to another institution's core curriculum even if the core curriculum is not completed at Laredo College.
Transfer Planning Guides
Transfer planning guides are a list of recommended courses that students may complete at Laredo College to transfer to a program of study at a university. Transfer guides are updated by the universities that provide them and generally include courses that satisfy their general education requirements (Core Curriculum) and are major/program specific. Transfer planning guides are a resource, so it is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to verify that the information provided on the guide is accurate, updated and applicable to their specific major.

Field of Study Guides
Under Chapter 4: Subchapter B of the Texas Administrative Code, the Texas Higher Educating Coordinating Board approved a Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC) for certain fields of study. The block of courses listed under the FOSCs fulfill lower-division (freshman and sophomore) requirements for a specific major (in addition to the core curriculum) and are guaranteed to transfer to all four year Texas public universities. It is still strongly recommended that students completing an FOSC establish contact with a transfer specialist from the institution they are planning to apply to for information about admissions and program requirements.
Equivalency Charts / Texas Common Course Numbering System
An equivalency chart identifies course equivalencies between Laredo Community College and a specific university. An equivalency chart does not list the course requirements for a specific major or program at the university; it only displays the courses that the univeristy will accept as transfer credit. Students using equivalency charts should strive to complete the LCC core curriculum or meet with an advisor to discuss other options to ensure that courses are not only transferrable but applicable to their program of study at the university.
Use the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) to compare course equivalencies between various Texas colleges and universities.
