Trading Station Emergency Aid Grant Program

Palomino Pantry Emergency Aid Grant Program

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Greater Texas Foundation, andTrellis Foundation launched the collaborative Texas Emergency Aid Grant Program to support students across Texas public, private, andnon-profit higher education institutions during the COVID-19 crisis. The goal of this public-private partnership is to raise up to $2 million to support the state’s two- and four-year institutions with block grants of $10,000 to $35,000, depending on the size and need of each institution and its student body. These grants are designed to expand existing emergency aid programs offered by Texas higher education institutions and complement the federal funds provided by the recently passed CARES Act by providing resources for capacity-buildingsupport of emergency aid programs or to fill gaps through direct emergency student aid.

Laredo College proposes to use funds to provide Laredo College students with emergency student aid that will support students with transportation, housing, clothing, food, and technology needs, through the Trading Station. The Laredo College Trading Station is a collaborative effort between the Laredo College Associated Student Organization (ASO), Laredo College Classified Staff Council, the Office of Student Life, faculty and LC students who share a vision to help LC students by providing clothing and food items during times of need. It serves as a food pantry and a place where students can get free toiletries, clothes, school supplies and other everyday essentials.
