Program Overview
The Pharmacy Technician program is designed to prepare students for a vital support role within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. This comprehensive course equips students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to assist pharmacists in both retail and clinical settings. Throughout the program, students will learn pharmaceutical terminology, medication classifications, dosage calculations, prescription processing, inventory management, and legal and ethical considerations in pharmacy practice. Hands-on training and classroom instruction are combined to ensure graduates are workforce-ready.

Credential Information
Credential Attained:
After completing the program, students will have the opportunity to challenge the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (ExCPT). Upon successful certification, students can apply for their Registered Pharmacy Technician license from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and will receive a Certificate of Completion with CEUs.

Exam Format:
The ExCPT exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete the exam, administered online at an approved NHA testing center. A passing score is required. Exam content covers:
- Overview and Laws
- Drugs and Drug Therapy
- Dispensing Process
- Medication Safety and Quality Assurance
Registration Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Clean criminal background
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
