Getting started on applying for financial aid can be a duanting process. Our office is ready and happy to helping you overcome any challenges along your journey.
Review and follow the steps below to go from applying to receiving your aid. If you are unable to do a FAFSA, then please refer to our TASFA steps under can I apply for state financial aid if I cannot use FAFSA?
Create Your FSA ID
You must create a user account. Your identity will need to be verified by the SSA so be sure to specify exactly what is on your social security card. test
Yes! Students who aren't eligible to submit the FAFSA can instead complete a TASFA.
Here are some items to include in your TASFA package:
- TASFA application for 2023-2024
- Verification form
- Selective service verification sheet
- If you need to register then fill out a paper form
- Copy of your high school equivalency
- Statement of rights and responsiblities form
Submit Your FAFSA
Start or renew your FAFSA. This application must be completed every year in order to be considered for federal, state, and/or institutional aid.

You need your parents' information if all the criteria applies to you:
- You are under 24
- You are unmarried
- You do not have any dependent children
- You are not currently active duty in the armed forces
You don't need your parents' information if you satisfy one of the criteria:
- You are 24 or older
- You are married
- You are a veteran of the armed forces
- You have dependent children
- You are currently active duty in the armed forces

After you sign and submit the application you will receive a SAR (student aid report) from the US Department of Education. Be sure to carefully review it to ensure there are no incorrect data.
Once LC receives your application then you will receive an email notification detailing your next steps in the process
